Look at the background before you post
A school photo can share more than a smile. The sign, uniform, bus stop, or house number in the background may tell a stranger where a child spends the day. Before posting, look at the whole frame.
Choose a version without identifying details when possible. Avoid adding a child’s full name, school, and regular schedule to the same public post. Ask before sharing photos of other families’ children, and respect a child who does not want a picture posted.
Check the audience setting each time rather than assuming the last choice still applies. A private group can reduce the audience, but screenshots and forwarded copies can travel beyond it. For a small family update, a direct message to the intended people may be enough.
This does not need to become a rule against sharing happy moments. Make the pause routine: who needs to see this, what else does it reveal, and would a simpler photo tell the same story?
